Grand Opening Tambre Alicante: innovation and humanity in reproductive medicine

Evento de inauguración de Tambre Alicante en Panoramis

We have just been born and we have already made history. 18 September 2025 was a day we will always remember at Grupo Tambre. With excitement, pride and great enthusiasm, we officially inaugurated Tambre Alicante at the Panoramis Life & Business complex. It was not simply the opening of a new clinic; it was the celebration of a shared dream, the beginning of a chapter that reflects who we are: science, vocation, innovation and humanity at the service of those who dream of starting a family.

From the very beginning, we knew that this inauguration would not be just another event. Alicante welcomed us with its Mediterranean light, its open energy and the warmth of all those who accompanied us. More than 300 guests filled the day with life, which was much more than just a ribbon-cutting ceremony: it was a meeting between generations, countries and trajectories united by a common purpose.

A morning full of symbolis

The day began with a moment that we will always remember. Our guest of honour, Louise Joy Brown, the first person in the world born thanks to in vitro fertilisation in 1978, toured the Tambre Alicante facilities alongside our CEO, Inge Kormelink, the medical director of the Tambre Group, Dr. Laura García de Miguel, and the medical coordinator in Alicante, Dr. Abraham Zavala.

It was very exciting for all of us to see her discover every corner of Tambre Alicante. Louise was born in the same year that our founder, Dr. Pedro Caballero Peregrín, launched Tambre in Madrid, and her presence reminded us of the beginnings of a journey that changed millions of lives. Today, around 13 million babies have been born thanks to IVF, and having her with us in Alicante was like bringing the past and the future together in a single embrace.

Louise wanted to share her impressions:

“It’s been wonderful. I feel very honoured to have been invited to come and help open and cut the ribbon with Inge. The facilities are fantastic. If I ever needed IVF treatment, I would definitely like to come here. I wish you the best of luck and hope you win lots of awards,” she told us during the opening party

An afternoon we will never forget

The excitement multiplied in the evening, when we welcomed more than 300 people to an event that exuded team spirit, joy and camaraderie. We were joined by representatives from the scientific, healthcare and social sectors, local authorities, academic and business figures, and of course, friends, family and colleagues who are part of the Tambre family.

The music of the Arán Quartet welcomed the guests and created an intimate and elegant atmosphere. At the photocall, amid photos and smiles, there was a mixture of excitement and pride that characterises great moments. During the event, we were particularly grateful for the warm words dedicated to us by Sandra López Pomares, regional secretary of the Department of Health, and Cristina Cutanda, councillor for Health at Alicante City Council, who emphasised the importance of this project for the city and the Valencian Community.

It was an international afternoon in every sense of the word. Guests came from the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Poland, Germany and the Netherlands, among other countries. We were particularly moved by the presence of Inge’s family from the Netherlands, and especially her 86-year-old aunt, whose visit was a symbol of love and support. We also wanted those who could not be present to feel part of this day, so the event was simultaneously translated and streamed live for all those who, although far away, wanted to join us.

A unique space in the fertility landscape

The amazement of those who visited us was reflected in the words of all who came to see us. We have transformed what was once a cinema, a playground and a Chinese restaurant into a state-of-the-art clinic. It was a huge challenge to convert this space into a clinic. We had to combine two ideas: a design in harmony with nature, which gives us life, together with cutting-edge technology, which helps to make all this possible.

The result is a warm, bright and modern space unlike anything else in the field of reproductive medicine. A place designed not only to offer medical excellence, but also to convey calm, confidence and closeness.

A speech, our essence

One of the most intense moments came with Inge Kormelink’s speech. Her words reminded us that behind every project, behind every achievement, there are always people.

She shared with everyone how, in 2018, she accepted the challenge of reviving Tambre Madrid at a difficult time and how, thanks to the vision, effort and commitment of the team, we managed to regain the trust of our patients and return to growth.

“Helping to bring life into the world changes lives. Here at Tambre, we give it our all, and I am very proud to say that in the vast majority of cases, we achieve what our patients desire most: fulfilling their dream of having a baby”

Her words reflected the essence of who we are and the vision of what we want to continue building. She emphasised the value of the team, inspired by the teachings of her father, who always said that the team is the heart of any company, and by the example of her mother, who dedicated her life to children and empowering women. Today, more than 90% of Tambre’s staff are women, and many hold management positions in all areas.

Inge’s excitement was contagious. She herself acknowledged:

“It is a privilege to have led this project from Madrid to Alicante. I am happy to see this dream come true and to have my family, my team and so many people who trust Tambre here with me”

The voice of our team

The inauguration was also an opportunity to shine a spotlight on those who make Tambre’s day-to-day operations possible. Dr. Laura García de Miguel, medical director, expressed her enthusiasm:

“For me, it’s incredible that the team is expanding, that we can have new colleagues in the medical area and in the laboratory, and that we can accompany more patients, more couples, in the project of helping them to have a baby”

Dr Abraham Zavala, medical coordinator at Tambre Alicante, wanted to highlight what makes us unique:

“It is a great honour to be part of this project. What makes Tambre special is that we not only care about scientific innovation and research, but we combine it with ethics and humane treatment in every cycle and every treatment”

From the laboratory department, Leonor Ortega, director in Alicante, did not hide her pride:

“It has been months of hard teamwork, effort and enthusiasm. I am here thanks to the support and teaching of Dr. Susana Cortés, who has passed on everything I know to me,” she said as she hugged the embryologist.

And Susana Cortés herself, director of laboratories for the Group, summed it up this way:

“It has been a very emotional event. We have reviewed all the work we do in the field of reproduction. We are a great team and we must continue to help our patients”

For her part, Dr Esther Moraga, a fertility specialist, spoke emotionally:

“It’s very exciting to see this clinic come into being and to be part of the team. The organisation and atmosphere created were spectacular”

Hearing these voices was a reminder that Tambre is much more than technology and medical excellence. We are people who work with passion, who thrill to every positive result and who are moved by every family that achieves their dream.

A toast to life

The grand finale came with the ribbon cutting, in which Inge, Louise and several board members participated. It was a symbolic moment that gave way to a toast to life, a toast to Tambre and to all the families that are part of our history.

With glasses of cava raised high, the illuminated port and the castle of Santa Bárbara as a backdrop, it was an unforgettable setting to share with all our guests. It was a moment of joy, unity and shared hope.

A future that begins in Alicante

confirmation of a way of understanding reproductive medicine. Here, in this 2,000 square metre space, the latest technology, artificial intelligence, state-of-the-art incubators, genetic diagnosis and a design conceived to care not only for fertility but also for the emotional experience of each patient come together.

But above all, Tambre Alicante is a reflection of our conviction: medical excellence and human warmth must always go hand in hand.

To all of you who have accompanied us, thank you. To those of you who travelled from afar, thank you. To our team, thank you for your dedication and passion. This achievement is a collective one, the result of everyone’s trust and effort.

Today, Alicante is part of the Tambre family. And with this new beginning, we reaffirm our mission: we are born so that others may be born.
