18 September 2025 was a very special day: the grand opening of Tambre Alicante, the new fertility clinic of the Tambre Group, which is already an international benchmark in advanced reproductive medicine. With this opening, Alicante has consolidated its position as an international hub for assisted reproduction, attracting patients from all over the world in search of personalised treatments and cutting-edge technology.
The whole day was full of excitement. We began with a press conference attended by the Group’s CEO, Inge Kormelink, the doctor and medical director, Laura García de Miguel, and the medical coordinator in Alicante, Dr Abraham Zavala, who were accompanied by Louise Joy Brown, the first baby born through in vitro fertilisation (IVF), whose story changed the way we understand reproductive medicine forever.
The opening ceremony we held in the afternoon was attended by more than 300 guests, including local authorities, representatives from the healthcare sector, international fertility experts, collaborators and the media. We were privileged to have Louise Joy Brown as the guest of honour at the event. We toasted together and celebrated the birth of the new clinic late into the night.
Since its foundation in Madrid in 1978, Clínica Tambre has accompanied thousands of patients on their journey to motherhood and fatherhood. Now, with the opening of the Panoramis Life & Business Centre complex, Tambre is expanding its presence with a fertility clinic in Alicante that combines almost five decades of experience with the most advanced technologies in the sector.
In the morning, we held a press conference to present the Tambre Alicante project. The Group’s CEO, Inge Kormelink, had this to say:
Today we are celebrating the opening of Tambre Alicante, a strategic location for continued growth. Alicante is an open, bright and well-connected city, ideal for local and international patients.
The clinic was created with the aim of becoming a centre of excellence in Europe, specialising in complex cases such as implantation failure, recurrent miscarriage, low ovarian reserve, endometriosis, genetic disorders and severe male factors.
Dr Laura García de Miguel, medical director of the Group, explained the objective of the medical and human team at Tambre when a woman or couple comes in search of fertility treatment:
Our goal is to achieve pregnancy in the shortest time possible, always with personalised treatments based on the most advanced technology.
Close and personalised care
Beyond innovation, at Tambre we know that humanity and warmth are just as important as science. Inge Kormelink, who has also been an assisted reproduction patient, recalled:
“Technology must always go hand in hand with the human touch. That closeness and empathy are what set us apart from other clinics”.
This approach is reflected in our multilingual and multicultural care. We speak Spanish, English, French, German, Italian and Dutch, which allows us to accompany patients who come not only from Spain, but also from the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and the United States, among others.
Dr Abraham Zavala, medical coordinator at Tambre Alicante, explained that Tambre treats people from all over the world:
“Our patients come from more than 100 countries. We not only understand their language, but also their culture and environment, so that we can provide them with comprehensive support throughout the entire process”.
Fertility challenges today
One of the great challenges in assisted reproduction is the delay in motherhood. In Spain, the average age for having the first child is over 32, and more than 10% of births are to mothers over 40.
This poses a challenge for specialists and means that more and more patients are turning to in vitro fertilisation, egg donation or egg vitrification as options to fulfil their desire to become mothers and fathers.
Tambre Alicante was created to respond to these social realities with an approach based on innovation, personalisation and close support.
The voice of history: Louise Brown
The most emotional moment of the inauguration was the speech by Louise Joy Brown, who officially sponsored the opening:
“My story represents hope for millions of families. Today, I am proud to accompany Tambre, which continues to offer so many women and couples the opportunity to start a family. If what you do is give love and create life, then it is always worthwhile”.
Its presence in Alicante reinforces the link between the history of assisted reproduction and its future, reminding us that every successful treatment opens up new possibilities for millions of families around the world.
A project with local and international impact
In addition to its medical dimension, Tambre Alicante will also have a positive impact on the city. It is estimated that it will generate skilled employment in areas such as gynaecology, embryology, psychology, nursing and clinical support, reaching 250 professionals by 2030.
Likewise, its role as a fertility clinic in Alicante will attract hundreds of international patients, boosting related sectors such as hospitality, transport and health tourism.
Welcome to Tambre Alicante
The opening of Tambre Alicante is not only a milestone for the Tambre Group, but also hopeful news for all those who dream of starting a family. A new assisted reproduction clinic that was created with the mission of offering the best medical results, but always with a personal touch, support and respect for each individual’s personal story.
Because, as Inge Kormelink reminded us, “every patient is unique, every body is different, and at Tambre we understand that”.
