June, the Fertility Month: an opportunity to talk about reproductive health

Every 4 June, we celebrate World Fertility Day, a celebration that has been extended to the entire month of June. The Month of Fertility is, above all, a global invitation to talk about reproductive health openly, to raise awareness about infertility, and to remember the importance of taking care of ourselves and detecting any potential problems as early as possible. At Tambre, a state-of-the-art assisted reproduction clinic, this month has special significance, as it brings us closer to our commitment to life, science, and the people who place their trust in us to help them start a family.

Why is it important to speak about fertility?

Fertility remains a taboo subject for many people. Because discussing difficulties in conceiving is painful. Because social pressure sometimes outweighs compassion. Because there is still a lack of education about reproductive health and there are too many prejudices.

But we also know that silence does not help. Only when we talk can we understand. Only when we ask questions can we find answers. And only when we feel supported do we move forward. Breaking this taboo, asking questions, getting information and seeking the support of specialists are essential steps in finding solutions to reproductive problems, which currently affect one in six couples of childbearing age.

At Tambre, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of detecting potential difficulties early on, understanding how age affects fertility and, above all, knowing that there are many solutions available. That is why, at Tambre, from the very first call, our patients receive the information and support they need to help them overcome their infertility problems.

Tambre's commitment to fertility

Clínica Tambre, located in Madrid, has been making the dreams of hundreds of women and couples who want to start a family come true for more than four decades. This extensive and successful experience has turned Tambre into a renowned centre for assisted reproduction, with a highly specialised multidisciplinary medical team, cutting-edge technology and a person-centred approach.

Following this same line, and after many years operating in Madrid, Tambre has recently taken another step forward with the opening of our new clinic in the heart of Alicante.

At both clinics, our commitment to fertility is not only focused on clinical results — which are above the European average — or on the studies that we conduct and present year after year at leading scientific forums, but above all on personalising treatments, providing support and ensuring the emotional well-being of those who place their trust in us; as we know that fertility is, first and foremost, a matter of the heart.

Innovation dedicated to life

At Tambre, innovation is not an add-on, it is part of our identity. We have our own embryology laboratory equipped with artificial intelligence systems to select the embryos with the highest potential, improving success rates. In addition, we perform advanced diagnostic tests and design personalised treatments tailored to each patient's medical, emotional and personal situation.

Constant research and collaboration with international centres enable us to stay at the forefront of the field and apply the latest scientific advances in clinical practice. Through the Tambre Foundation, we develop our own lines of research and keep abreast of the latest scientific developments. This places us at the forefront of research and development, aiming to continuously improve fertility treatments and results.

Tambre during Fertility Month: what activities have we planned?

This Fertility Month, in addition to opening our clinic in Alicante, we will be stepping up our awareness-raising efforts by participating in key events both in Spain and abroad:

-We are once again participating in the InfertilRace, organised by the National Infertility Network. This virtual race aims to raise awareness of infertility as a disease, as well as to foster a sense of community.

-We are sponsoring an elephant in Thailand as part of an international initiative developed at the Elephant Parade Amsterdam 750, to celebrate the city's 750th anniversary. A symbolic way to remember the fragility of life and the need to protect it.

-We will attend the ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology) international conference, one of the most important events in the field of assisted reproduction, where Tambre will present four scientific studies. Once again, we will be contributing data, experience and knowledge to the world's most important conference on assisted reproduction.

As usual, we will continue our work to raise awareness about reproductive health care and fertility studies through our communication channels.

Tips to take care of your fertility

We often take fertility for granted... until we start having problems. This is why being proactive is key for both men and women, and not just when you start planning for pregnancy. Here are some key tips:

  1. Age does matter

Even though it is not always talked about, fertility has a strong biological component linked to age, especially for women. From the age of 35 onwards, the ovarian reserve begins to decline significantly, and the quality of the eggs is also affected. In men, although the impact is more gradual, age also influences sperm quality and the chances of achieving pregnancy.

Therefore, it is important to seek information in advance, especially if you are considering delaying parenthood for personal, professional or health reasons. There are options such as fertility preservation (egg vitrification or sperm freezing), which allow for greater freedom in planning.

  1. Do not wait to consult

Consultation is often delayed due to fear, misinformation, or the belief that ‘there is still time’. However, it is recommended to consult a professional in the following circumstances:

  • If you are under 35 and have been trying to conceive for over a year without success.
  • If you are over 35 and have been trying for over six months.
  • If you have a medical history of endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, varicocele, genital infections, cancer treatment or a family history of early menopause.
  • If you just want to know your fertility status, even if pregnancy is not on your mind right now.
  1. Mind your lifestyle

In addition to biological factors, certain lifestyle choices can directly influence reproductive health: diet, rest, exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, reducing chronic stress, and avoiding toxic habits all play a role in your reproductive health.

  1. Get regular check-ups

Knowing your body, your options, and the medical advances available empowers you to make informed decisions. At Tambre, we are confident that good information can change your life, which is why we are committed to education and personalised support from day one.

As you can see, June is much more than just a month on the calendar at Tambre. It is an opportunity to raise awareness, to listen and to provide support. From Madrid and now from Alicante too, we keep working to ensure that every fertility story has a hopeful beginning.
