Planning motherhood also means thinking about the future. In recent years, more and more women have decided to freeze their eggs as a way to preserve their fertility and gain peace of mind for the future. For many women, it is a way to plan motherhood freely and without pressure.

This was the case for Cristina Abad, a 33-year-old Spanish actress known for her roles in series such as Acacias 38, Servir y proteger and Valle Salvaje. Cristina decided to vitrify her eggs at Tambre and share her experience on her social media channels.
She has told us about a real experience, lived calmly and without fear.

“I started thinking about it when I was 29, but I didn’t dare to do it then”

Cristina recalls that the idea of preserving her fertility first crossed her mind when she was 29. Several friends around her were going through the process, and she was struck by the possibility of freezing her eggs while they were still young, whether she decided to become a mother one day with a partner or on her own.

However, at that time she decided not to go ahead.
She had heard too many things: fears about hormonal effects, physical changes and, above all, not being able to keep up with her work schedule, as she was then filming a police series. “I read a lot, I informed myself, and I thought: not now”.

Four years later, at 33, her perspective is different. She not only feels more prepared, but also better informed. And that is when she decided to take the step.

Understanding that age matters (a lot)

One of the factors that carried the most weight in her decision was understanding something that, in her view, is not explained enough to women: egg quality also declines with age, not just the number of eggs.

“I had always heard that as you get older it becomes harder to get pregnant or that there are more risks, but I didn’t know to what extent egg quality plays a role”, she explains.

When she came to her first consultation and began to receive clear medical information, she understood that preserving fertility at the right time was, for her, a way of taking care of herself.

For Cristina, the idea is not to force anything or decide today what will happen tomorrow, but simply to have options.

What Cristina wants you to know before freezing your eggs

  • Not all women experience egg freezing in the same way. Every body responds differently.
  • Age affects egg quality. Preserving fertility at the right time can make a real difference.
  • The process is often simpler than you might imagine. In many cases, it is possible to continue with everyday life.
  • Getting informed early gives you options. Egg vitrification allows you to plan motherhood with greater peace of mind.

Why she chose Tambre

A direct recommendation was what led Cristina to trust Tambre. Close friends had gone through the same process there, and all of them highlighted the care and treatment they received.

“Everything I heard was positive: kindness, warmth, calm. And for me, that was essential,” she says.

She also knew that Tambre is an international reference clinic, with patients coming from different countries, which reinforced her feeling of being in good hands.

Today, having completed the process, she is certain about it: “it was the right decision.”

The first visit: feeling calm from the very beginning

If there is one thing Cristina highlights about her first visit, it is the sense of calm. She arrived feeling nervous, like many women who are considering egg vitrification, but she found a team that was close, approachable and deeply human.

“My doctor spoke to me as if she were a friend. She didn’t hug me, but I felt it,” she recalls.

She was able to ask everything, even what she considered “silly” questions, and she always received clear answers, without any rush.

That sense of support was key, especially when small moments of uncertainty arose during the process. “They never made me feel alarmed. Always calm”.

Breaking myths about egg freezing

Before starting, Cristina had heard all kinds of things: bloating, extreme mood swings, weight gain, not being able to live a normal life. But her experience was very different.

“My body responded really well. I didn’t feel bloated, I didn’t gain weight, and I didn’t stop living my life. There were a couple of brief emotional moments, but nothing more”, she explains.

During the days of ovarian stimulation, she injected herself using a very fine pen. The initial fear quickly disappeared. “It didn’t hurt at all”.

The process lasted around 15 days in total, and she chose to go through it calmly, staying at home more and listening to her body.

Far from being a negative experience, she describes it as simple, manageable and much less invasive than she had imagined.

Cristina explains the treatment step by step with complete naturalness: oral medication at the beginning, daily injections for several days, medical check-ups and, finally, the egg retrieval procedure to extract and freeze the eggs.

She did not experience it as something painful, but rather as another medical process, well explained and carefully supported.

“It’s true that it can be a bit tiring, but it’s temporary. It’s two weeks. And they go by quickly.”

Looking back today, she feels she could even have done it earlier. But she has no regrets: every decision comes when you are ready.

“I recommend it without fear”

When she thinks about other women who are unsure about freezing their eggs in their thirties, her message is clear: get well informed and don’t let fear guide your decision.

“You don’t know when you will want to become a mother. Maybe you won’t find the right moment, or the right person, or your body won’t respond as you expected. This is a kind of insurance for the future,” she says.

For her, freezing her eggs is not about giving anything up. Quite the opposite: it is about gaining peace of mind.

“If anyone has doubts, they should ask. They shouldn’t rely only on what they hear out there.”

A conscious step, without pressure

Cristina Abad’s story is not about rushing or making final decisions. It is about getting informed, listening to yourself and making decisions with perspective.
Freezing your eggs means being able to pause time and know that you will have more options in the future.
