“The most exciting part of my work is addressing hormonal imbalances that affect fertility.”
Learn a little more about me
I admit that I was slow to discover my true calling, as medicine was not my first option when it came to choosing a university degree. I was very interested in the fields of healthcare and biology, but I did not have any medical professionals in my family who acted as role models.
Once I started my medical degree, I realised it was my passion and that I wanted to dedicate myself to family care and women’s health
I worked at Tambre from 2002 to 2006 and it was a very rewarding experience for me. I received excellent training from leading doctors in Reproductive Medicine. Today, I believe that Tambre has grown with state-of-the-art technology and highly qualified professionals specialising in complex cases. This makes the clinic one of the leading reproductive centres in Spain. At the same time, it keeps the family spirit from its early days, giving excellent care to patients and to the team.
The most exciting part of my work is addressing hormonal imbalances that affect fertility. I like reproductive endocrinology and applying it to complex cases.
There have been so many that I cannot recall the first one, but I do recall couples I have treated who were very grateful for achieving pregnancy. In fact, some still remember me and tell me how their little ones are growing. Every positive result is a source of joy that motivates me to continue working, and every negative result is a great challenge that drives me to continue learning and finding a solution for the case.
In reproductive medicine, no two cases are the same. Each couple has their own needs, and that is the challenge, finding the diagnosis and treatment for each specific couple. Although we follow protocols, each couple needs their case to be treated individually, so our work is never monotonous. Each new couple represents a new chapter that begins with the very first visit.
The success story that has had the greatest impact on me is the case of my younger sister and the birth of my twin nephews.
The most rewarding aspect is meeting a hopeful couple, who place their trust in me to help them achieve pregnancy and the joy of being successful. Within medicine, we apply the best ‘cure’, which is helping couples achieve their dream of starting a family. We are doctors of healthy patients, but with emotional scars in their souls when they are unable to achieve pregnancy, so achieving it is very rewarding. And our patients are usually very grateful.
The most important thing is to be determined to do everything possible in each case, to use all the knowledge and strategies available to me for that treatment and to know that when something is beyond my speciality, I have to ask for help and refer the patient to other specialists. Like all humans, doctors are not infallible, nor do we have all the knowledge. Medicine is advancing by leaps and bounds; I see it more as an integrative medicine with immunology, haematology or endocrinology.
I love spending time with my children, who are now grown up. I also enjoy travelling and learning about different cultures.
