Dr. Lourdes Montesinos
She felt called to be a doctor and take care of women from a young age, and that calling eventually pushed her to specialise in gynaecology and fertility. As a specialist experienced in clinical care and medical ultrasound techniques, profoundly dedicated to every case, she joined the Tambre Alicante team to contribute her rigorous, attentive approach. Her holistic approach, which combines science and humanity, allows her to care for the patients who face difficult challenges such as implantation failures, always in hopes of making their dreams of becoming mothers come true.

“In the majority of cases, we can find solutions that bring patients closer to achieving their dream of pregnancy”
Learn a little more about me
I felt this calling from an early age. I developed a strong interest in natural sciences back in school. I knew that I wanted to study something related to health sciences. I ended up studying medicine. When I took the Gynaecology module, I realised that was the area that mattered the most to me and I wanted to commit to that branch of medicine. I felt intrigued by pregnancy and also the whole process of conception, that comprises so many different factors that have to come together in order to result in gestation.
I found the expansion of Tambre into Alicante to be an amazing opportunity. I am well acquainted with Tambre’s working approach: rigorous, patient-centered and focused on their well-being. That’s why I felt inclined to be a part of this team. I wanted to support the project of a new clinic with my experience, because it aligns well with my own approach to reproductive medicine: commitment, expertise and humane approach every step of the way.
Fertility is one of the most complex areas of gynaecology, as it encompasses multiple aspects of a woman’s health. From my point of view, reproductive medicine allows us to thoroughly examine each clinical case with a holistic approach in order to identify and overcome the hurdles on the way to a successful pregnancy. In the majority of cases, it is indeed possible to find solutions that can fulfil one of the most important dreams of many couples and single women: help them become pregnant and have babies. Our role as professionals is to accompany our patients with rigour, empathy and hope.
Even though our main objective is always to offer the best personalised solutions and achieve pregnancy in all cases, one of the major challenges of reproductive medicine is tackling endometrial problems, especially in patients who have suffered from repeated implantation failures. Such cases require a meticulous assessment, a multidisciplinary approach and highly individualised treatments.
Seeing the emotion swirling in their eyes as they take a look at the first ultrasound is undoubtedly the most rewarding thing for me. And I still cannot get fully used to it.
Of course, it is always difficult to remain unaffected if the results do not meet their expectations, but over the years you learn how to support the patients in such situations.
I like spending my leisure time at home, relaxing with some music or walking on the beach. I also enjoy being with my family and visiting good restaurants.
